Chris Steinbrunner, and a Renaissance of Fantasy

James H. Burns writes:
Chris Steinbrunner was one of the great unsung heroes of fandom, who helped run many of his era’s conventions, was an Edgar-award winning author, wrote one of the very first books on science fiction and fantasy movies, published many books (with Centaur Press), was an executive with WOR-TV in New York (and produced what may well be a lost 007 special!)…
He’s also in danger of being forgotten.
My old pal was a pretty neat guy, and a while ago, I was stunned that save for a short Wikipedia entry, there was virtually none of Chirs’ history on the web.
I wrote what I hope is this fun piece, to hopefully get the ball rolling in rectifying that!
Chris Steinbrunner (1934-1993) co-authored the Edgar Award-winning Encyclopedia of Mystery and Detection with Otto Penzler in 1976. His obituaries appeared in The New York Times and Variety.
