Variety reports the top movies, in terms of box office take, for the week of 11-17 November 2011. The new mythic fantasy film Immortals topped the charts, taking in $40.7 million in its opening week. Adam Sandler comedy Jack and Jill opened at #2. Puss In Boots slipped from #1 to #3, swashbuckling up $28.3 million, for a three-week total of $111.6 million. Leonardo DeCaprio biopic J. Edgar opened at #5. In Time slipped from #5 to #7, saving $5.2 million, for a three-week total of $31.7 million. Paranormal Activity 3 fell from #4 to #8, scaring up $4.4 million, for a four-week total of $101.6 million. Real Steel slipped from #7 to #10, fighting up $2.3 million, for a six-week total of $82.0 million.
Indian musical comedy Rockstar opened at #18.
Falling out of the top 25 this week were:
Ra. One (last week’s #21) in its third week in release (box office total: $2.5 million)
The Thing (last week’s #25) in its fifth week in release (box office total: $16.9 million)
