Apex Publications Publisher Jason Sizemore announces he has hired Lynne M. Thomas as the new editor of Apex Magazine, succeeding Catherynne M. Valente. Thomas’s first issue will be November 2011.
Sizemore said “Under the editorial hand of Cat Valente, Apex Magazine has become one of the leading sources of short form science fiction, fantasy, and horror. Having someone as talented and well-regarded as Lynne Thomas taking over the editorial wheel this November makes me confident that our magazine will only continue to rise in stature and readership.”
Thomas said “I’m thrilled and honored to be following in the footsteps of Catherynne M. Valente at such an exciting time for Apex Publications. Apex Magazine has thrived with Cat as its editor, publishing cutting-edge and award-worthy dark science fiction, fantasy, and horror fiction and poetry. I look forward to continuing and building upon her editorial legacy.”
According to Sizemore, Apex Magazine is a professional level venue currently publishing on a monthly schedule. The magazine has published 27 issues, and averages 12,000 unique visitors a month to its website.
