Site selection voting, tabulated and annoucned at this year’s WorldCon has chosen LoneStarCon 3, in San Antonio, Texas, as the 2013 World Science Fiction Convention. The last Texas WorldCon was held in San Antonio in 1997.
LoneStarCon 3, the 71st World Science Fiction Convention, will be held 29 August-2 September 2013, at the Henry B. Gonzalez Convention Center in San Antonio, Texas. The Mariott Rivercenter and Mariott Riverwalk will serve as the host hotels.
The guests of honor list for LoneStarCon 3 includes Ellen Datlow, James Gunn, Norman Spinrad, Darrel K. Sweet, and Willie Siros, with Paul Cornell serving as toastmaster and featuring special guests Leslie Fish and Joe R. Lansdale.
LoneStarCon 3 is sponsored by ALAMO, Inc. (Alamo Literary Arts Maintenance Organization), a 501(c)3 organization. The web site for the convention, http://www.lonestarcon3.org, is up and active.
Current membership rates are $160 for adults, $110 for “young adults”, $75 for children, and $60 for supporting (non-attending) memberships. In addition, LoneStarCon 3 is offering a “family” membership for $440.
