Variety reports the top movies, in terms of box office take, for the week of 27 May-2 June 2011. The Hangover Part II topped the charts in its first full week in release. Kung Fu Panda 2, which opened at the end of last week, jumped from #8 to #2 in its first full week on the charts, kicking up $70.3 million, for a one-plus-week total of $76.1 million. Pirates of the Caribbean: On Stranger Tides, slipped from #1 to #3, seeking out $58.7 million, for a two-week total of $172.2 million. Thor slipped from #4 to #5, pounding down $14.5 million, for a four-week total of $164.9 million. Rio slipped from #7 to #9, flying away with $2.9 million, for a seven-week total of $136.0 million.
Priest fell from #6 to #11, slaying $2.8 million, for a three-week total of $28.3 million. Rango climbed from #22 to #16, rounding up $550 thousand (just a shade more money than last week, while showing on 10% fewer screens than last week), for a twelve-week total of $121.9 million. Source Code climbed from #20 to #18, arresting $500 thousand (15% less than last week), for a nine-week total of $53.6 million. Hop, which last week fell out of the top 25, this week bounced back up to #21, collecting $350 thousand, for a nine-week total of $107.6 million. Hanna climbed from #25 to #22, slaying $350 thousand (20% less than last week), for an eight-week total of $39.7 million. Limitless climbed from #24 to #23, earning $350 thousand (30% less than last week), for an eleven-week total of $78.6 million.

Tangled (last week’s #14 after a one-week surge in theatrical engagements) in its twenty-seventh week in release (box office total: $200.8 million)
Insidious (last week’s #18) in its ninth week in release (box office total: $52.8 million)
Hoodwinked Too! Hood vs. Evil (last week’s #21) in its fifth week in release (box office total: $9.5 million)
