James Patrick Kelly writes to tell us “In tandem with Clarion West, Clarion UCSD is running its second annual Write-a-Thon. Time is running out to sign up: the deadline for writing or sponsoring a writer is June 26th, the start of Clarion UCSD.”
The Write-a-Thon is both a fund-raiser for the long-running series of sf writers’ workshops, and another means of encouraging writers to write. The Clarion West Write-a-Thon is in its eighth year, while the Clarion UCSD Write-a-Thon is celebrating its second year.
Both ask writers to pledge to write, and to seek sponsors who will donate money to the workshops for every week their writer(s) meet their writing goals. The deadline to sign up for Clarion West’s is 18 June, the day the workshop begins. Each of the workshops has more than 75 writers already signed up to participate, all eager for sponsorship.
