The Academy of Science Fiction, Fantasy & Horror Films awarded its 37th annual Saturn Awards this weekend. The Academy was founded in 1972 to honor and recognize genre achievement.
In addition to the standard awards (listed below), several special awards were announced:
The Dr. Donald A. Reed Award: Dean Devlin
The Visionary Award: Kevin Feige
The George Pal Memorial Award: Frank Darabont
The Life Career Award: Bert I. Gordon
The Life Career Award: Michael Biehn
The leader among film nominees was Inception, with nine nominations. The film picked up five awards, making it the biggest winner of the night.
In the television categories, The Walking Dead led the field with six nominations, followed by Breaking Bad, Fringe, and Lost, with five each. Fringe was the darling of the awards, taking home three.
