Graham Edwards writes to tell us “I’ve just started posting on my blog a series of retrospective articles about the legendary visual effects magazine Cinefex. The first post (not surprisingly about Issue 1) can be found on my blog here.
In the post, he talks about the design and idea behind the magazine, and then reviews the contents of what he calls “a quarterly magazine about visual effects—specifically, behind-the-scenes articles on major movies.” That first issue contained two feature articles, on Star Trek: The Motion Picture and Alien.
In response to that first post, Cinefex Editor Don Shay responded “your blog has been zipping around the Cinefex staff at warp speed since you posted it yesterday. What a terrific and flattering entry—and by someone who can write!”
Edwards laments the fact that his collection of the magazine is incomplete, forcing him to skip from this piece on issue #1 straight to #4. Shay, however, responded that he’ll be providing issues #2 and #3 from his personal stash to enable Edwards to work through all the magazines.
