Blackjack, Lost Myths, and Other Fantasies: A Launch of ChiZine Publications’ New Titles with TINARS

ChiZine Publications (CZP) is hosting an out-of-the-ordinary launch party for their Spring 2011 books. “Dark genre fiction authors Gemma Files, Claude Lalumière, Brent Hayward, and David Nickle will become dealers in a fans vs. authors blackjack game to launch new ChiZine publications titles,” Marketing Manager Laura Marshall tells us. The event will be hosted by the literary landmark This is Not a Reading Series (TINARS) at the Gladstone Hotel Ballroom on Monday 11 April at 7:00PM.
The evening will feature “a series of blackjack tables where attendees will have the chance to play at a table with one of the authors for a chance to win free books. Authors will interview each other round-robin style, and the evening will close with a special ‘Lost Myths’ presentation by Claude Lalumière, a playful medley of cryptomythological fiction, pantheons, and bestiaries accompanied by artwork by Rupert Bottenberg.”
CZP Managing Editor Helen Marshall said “Because the majority of our Spring 2011 authors are returning for their second books with us, we wanted to offer something out of the ordinary. These are some of the most inventive, genre-bending authors we’ve had the pleasure to work with and they’ve made a stellar impact on the Canadian dark fiction market.”
The event will be on Monday 11 April 2011 at the Gladstone Hotel Ballroom, 1214 Queen Street West, Toronto, Ontario, at 7:00PM. Admission is $5.00, or free with a book purchase.
The books they’ll be launching include:
A Rope of Thorns by Gemma Files
The Door to Lost Pages by Claude Lalumière
The Fecund’s Melancholy Daughter by Brent Hayward
Eutopia: A Novel of Terrible Optimism by David Nickle
