2011 BAFTA Film Award Winners

The British Academy of Film and Television Arts (BAFTA) has announced the winners of its 2011 Orange British Academy Film Awards. We detailed the nominees in this article. BAFTA’s mission is to “support, develop, and promote the art forms of the moving image, by identifying and rewarding excellence, inspiring practitioners and benefiting the public.”
In addition to the film awards, Sir Christopher Lee was honored with an Academy Fellowship, “the highest accolade bestowed upon an individual in recognition of an outstanding and exceptional contribution to film” (see this article), and the Harry Potter film series received the award for Outstanding British Contribution to Cinema (see this article for details of this award).
Awards in seven of the fifteen categories with sf/f/h nominees went to those genre films (last year, it was five of fifteen). This year’s winners are:

Director: David Fincher for The Social Network
Original Screenplay: The King’s Speech written by David Seidler
Adapted Screenplay: The Social Network written by Aaron Sorkin
Film Not in the English Language: The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo
Animated Film: Toy Story 3
Leading Actor: Colin Firth in The King’s Speech
Leading Actress: Natalie Portman in Black Swan
Supporting Actor: Geoffrey Rush in The King’s Speech
Supporting Actress: Helena Bonham Carter in The King’s Speech
Original Music: The King’s Speech, Alexandre Desplat
Cinematography: True Grit, Roger Deakins
Editing: The Social Network, Angus Wall and Kirk Baxter
Production Design: Inception, Guy Hendrix Dyas, Larry Dias, and Doug Mowat
Costume Design: Alice in Wonderland, Colleen Atwood
