Top Box Office Grossers: First Week in January 2011

Variety reports the top movies, in terms of box office take, for the week of 31 December 2010-6 January 2011. Almost no new films were released this week, so there was very little movement on the charts. Little Fockers and True Grit held onto the top two spots. Tron: Legacy held steady at #3, earning $25.6 million, for a three-week total of $138.1 million. Yogi Bear held steady at #4, snatching up $15.4 million, for a three-week total of $68.8 million. Black Swan climbed from #9 to #6, swooping up $14.2 million (about 15% less than last week), for a five-week total of $53.1 million. The Chronicles of Narnia: Voyage of the Dawn Treader fell from #5 to #7, tallying up $13.3 million, for a four-week total of $89.9 million. Tangled fell from #6 to #8, spinning up $12.6 million, for a six-week total of $170.7 million. Gulliver’s Travels fell from #7 to #9, tying up $11.7 million, for a two-week total of $29.9 million.
Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows, Part I held steady at #13, taking in $6.4 million, for a seven-week total of $285.3 million. Megamind held steady at #14, making $850 thousand, for a nine-week total of $144.4 million.
