New owner confirms life and planned growth of Realms of Fantasy

Kim Richards-Gilchrist, the CEO of Damnation Books and new owner of Realms of Fantasy, has written to subscribers introducing herself and confirming that all previously sold subscriptions will be honored. “In addition,” she writers, “if you purchased a subscription to Dreams of Decadence, you will receive Realms of Fantasy as Dreams of Decadence will not be published at this time.”
She also discusses plans for the future, noting “we are excited to keep Realms of Fantasy alive.” The February 2011 issue is due out later this month. The April issue will “include a dark fantasy theme… to coincide with World Horror Convention,” where they’ll have a dealers’ booth. “The June 2011 issue is going to be a larger issue (100 pages) to celebrate the 100th issue of” the magazine. That issue will also mark the debut of poetry in its pages.
And confirming earlier assumptions, she writes “the editorial staff and columnists are continuing with us.… [and] he content will retain its high quality and varied sub-genres of fantasy fiction as before. Additionally, the magazine will remain the same size and glossy look. We plan to expand with digital editions for ebook readers and phones. Be assured that we plan to continue with print editions as before and have no plans to discontinue print editions.”
Richards-Gilchrist’s letter also urges subscribers to renew, with print subscriptions staying at the same price ($19.99 for six issues, $34.99 for 12), and electronic pdf subscriptions offered at $14.99 (for six issues).
