ComicPalooza Film Festival Opens for Submissions

Houston, Texas’s ComicPalooza comic book convention (27-29 May 2011 at the George R. Brown Convention Center) is the home convention for SplatterFest. ComicPalooza Chariman John Simons writes to let us know “We are now accepting short and feature film submissions in the horror, sci-fi, anime/animation, action, comedy and fan fiction genres. The deadline for entry is 31 March. Submissions are free, see this page for details and entry form. Premier trailers for upcoming movies will also be accepted on a case by case basis.”
Comicpalooza, Simons says “is one of the best and biggest annual pop culture conventions in the southwest region of the United States, serving not only the fans of comics, science fiction, fantasy, gaming, anime, music and film, but also as a trade show and showcase for the studios, publishers, and manufacturers in those industries. Exhibit booths are available at discounted rates for filmmakers who submit.”
SplatterFest debuted last year, “producing 18 films with over 250 filmmakers, drawing an attendance of over 2000 at the Alamo Drafthouse West Oaks.”

I saw some of the Splatterfest movies in Dallas in November. I’ll be driving to Houston to see what they have at Comicpalooza.
