Top Box Office Grossers: Third Week in November 2010

Variety reports the top movies, in terms of box office take, for the week of 12-18 November 2010. Several new films opened this week, apparently in hopes of avoiding the juggernaut that should be next week’s Harry Potter arrival. The animated Megamind held onto the top spot for its second week, making $33.6 million, for a two-week total of $93.3 million. Action flick Unstoppable opened at #2, pushing Due Date to #3. Alien invasion film Skyline opened at #4, swooping up $14.2 million. Comedy Morning Glory opened at #5. Saw 3D slipped from #5 to #8, chopping up $3.7 million, for a three-week total of $44.4 million. Paranormal Activity 2 slipped from #6 to #9, with activity of $3.7 million, for a four-week total of $82.6 million.
Hereafter fell from #9 to #13, earning $1.8 million, for a five-week total of $31.9 million. Despicable Me held strong at #21, grossing $450 thousand, for a nineteen-week total of $248.9 million. Inception slipped from #22 to #24, earning $325 thousand, for an eighteen-week total of $291.9 million.
Falling out of the top 25 this week were:
Legend of the Guardians: Owls of Ga’Hoole (last week’s #19) in its eighth week in release (box office total: $54.4 million)
Toy Story 3 (last week’s #24) in its twenty-second week in release (box office total: $414.7 million)
