Warren Lapine, publisher of Realms of Fantasy, and Kim Richards Gilchrist, CEO and co-owner of Damnation Books LLC announce the sale of Realms to Damnation Books.
The just-concluded deal will see the December 2010 issue produced in print (as opposed to the previous announcement, which expected it to be an electronic-only final issue). The new owners will begin their tenure with the February 2011 issue, meaning there will be no gap in the bi-monthly magazine’s publication schedule. All subscriptions already paid for will be honored.
Damnation’s future plans include “continuing to produce the same quality fiction magazine in print and to expand digital editions for ebook and desktop readers. The April 2011 issue will be themed “dark fantasy” to coincide with World Horror Convention 2011, where Damnation Books will be hosting a party, and a booth in the dealers’ area.”
Damnation is also making plans for a larger “birthday bash” issue in June 2011, which will be the magazine’s 100th issue.
Effective immediately, the magazine is reopening to submissions. Guidelines will again be available on the current and continuing web site, www.rofmag.com.
The magazine’s new paper mailing address is:
Realms of Fantasy
P.O. Box 1208
Santa Rosa, California 95402 USA
Damnation Books LLC publishes “dark fiction as Damnation Books. They also own and operate Eternal Press, which focuses more on romance and mainstream fiction.”
Additionally, while we have no official word on staffing, rumors point to the current staff being kept in its entirety. More news when we confirm it.

Realms of Fantasy is dying, again (18 October 2010)
This magazine gives new meaning to the term “the living dead”. It just won’t die (which is a good thing).
Kudos to Damnation Books — they seem committed to making a strong run at it. I hope they change the formula a little to ensure its survival.
I have a subscription to Realms of Fantasy till april 2013. I am glad to know that they will still be publishing. I also had paid for the subscription to Dreams of Decadence by Tir Na Tog will I get that subscription too? Any way its some good news.
We will be honoring all current subscriptions. I also believe the Dreams of Decadence subscriptions were rolled over to Realms of Fantasy by the previous owners–Kim Richards
