This year’s Endeavour Award winner was announced at OryCon this weekend. David Marusek won for his novel Mind Over Ship (published by Tor). The award is for “a distinguished science fiction or fantasy book written by a Pacific Northwest author or authors”, and comes with a $1000 prize.
This year’s judges were Robin Wayne Bailey, Laura Anne Gilman, and Madeleine Robins.
We neglected to list the nominees when they were originally announced. The other nominees for this year’s award were:
Push of the Sky by Camille Alexa
Hunting Ground by Patricia Briggs
City Without End by Kay Kenyon
Eyes Like Sky and Coal and Moonlight by Cat Rambo
The deadline to submit books for consideration for next year’s award (for books published during 2010) is 15 February 2011.
The Endeavour Award is sponsored by Oregon Science Fiction Conventions, Inc., and “represents a collaboration between writers and fans of science fiction and fantasy to encourage the growth of literature in the field and recognize works of excellence. It is named for H.M. Bark Endeavour, the ship of Northwest explorer Capt. James Cook.”
