Four Northwestern scientists to discuss Mutants, Androids, and Cyborgs

WBEZ Chicago’s Marketing Assistant Chris Davila writes to let us know of “a great event that is occurring on 20 October at Northwestern University: Mutants, Androids, and Cyborgs: The Science of Pop Culture Films.”
For the evening, WBEZ’s Gabriel Spitzer will be moderating a panel discussing “the line between science and science fiction? Could we ever selectively erase experiences from our memories? Control robotic limbs with our minds? What science of tomorrow can we look forward to by viewing the films of today?”
Panelists will be Todd Kuiken, MD, PhD (Neural Engineering Center for Artificial Limbs); Malcolm MacIver, MD (associate professor of biomedical engineering, mechanical engineering, neurobiology, and physiology; science consultant for Tron: Legacy and Caprica); Tom Meade, PhD (professor of chemistry, biochemistry, and molecular and cell biology); and Catherine Woolley, PhD (director of the Biological Imaging Facility at Northwestern).
The event will be at Northwestern University’s Evanston Campus (Ryan Family Auditorium), 2145 Sheridan Rd, Evanston, IL 60201. Tickets are $15. For more information, see this page.
