Top Box Office Grossers: Fourth Week in July 2010

Variety reports the top movies, in terms of box office take, for the week of 23-29 July 2010. Inception held onto the top of the charts, earning $65.7 million, for a two-week total of $165.8 million. Angelina Jolie’s new action flick Salt opened at #2. Despicable Me, therefore, slipped from #2 to #3, grossing $37.2 million, for a three-week total of $174.8 million. The Sorcerer’s Apprentice slipped from #3 to #4, generating $14.6 million, for a two-week total of $47.6 million. Toy Story 3 showed continuing strength, holding on to the #5 spot, and taking in $14.1 million, for a six-week total of $384.6 million. Twilight: Eclipse fell from #4 to #7, sucking up $11.5 million, for a four-week total of $284.2 million. The Last Airbender slipped from #7 to #9, conjuring up $6.4 million, for a four-week total of $125.5 million. Predators slipped from #8 to #10, grabbing $4.7 million, for a three-week total of $48.4 million.
Iron Man 2 slipped from #14 to #16, and earning $725 thousand, for a twelve-week total of $311.1 million. Shrek Forever After held strong at #21, grossing $450 thousand, for a ten-week total of $235.1 million. Marmaduke slipped from #19 to #22, woofing up $425 thousand, for an eight-week total of $32.8 million.

How to Train Your Dragon (last week’s #23), which has apparently ended its theatrical run after seventeen weeks and more than $217 million (the DVD release has been announced for 15 October)
Robin Hood (last week’s #25) in its eleventh week in release ($105.1 million)
