2009 Sidewise Award Winners

Steven H Silver reports the winners of this year’s Sidewise Awards for Alternate History, which were given out at ReConStruction, this year’s North American Science Fiction Convention.
The Sidewise Awards were founded in 1995 “to recognize the best alternate history of the year.” This year’s judges included Stephen Baxter, Evelyn Leeper, Jim Rittenhouse, Stu Shiffman, Kurt Sidaway, and Steven H Silver.
The winner for Best Short Form is:
“The Fixation” by Alastair Reynolds (originally published in The Solaris Book of New Science Fiction, Volume 3, Solaris)
The winner for Best Long Form is:
1942 by Robert Conroy (published by Ballantine)

    Congratulations to the winners! We at Book View Cafe would have loved to see Sarah Zettel win, but congratulations to Alastair Reynolds just the same. Looking forward to reading “The Fixation!”
