Top Box Office Grossers: Fourth Week in June 2010

Variety reports the top movies, in terms of box office take, for the week of 25 June-1 July 2010. As expected by absolutely everybody, sparkly vampires rule the charts, as the newest installment of the Twilight saga was released. Eclipse sucked up $92.7 million, despite opening on Wednesday the 30th. Toy Story 3 was thus pushed down from #1 to #2, as it took in $91.3 million (in a full week), for a two-week total of $258.8 million. Grown Ups and Knight and Day opened at #3 and #4, respectively. M. Night Shyamalan’s The Last Airbender, which opened on 1 July, managed to conjure up $16.4 million. Shrek Forever After slipped from #5 to #8, grossing $4.9 million, for a six-week total of $231.4 million. Prince of Persia: The Sands of Time slipped from #6 to #10, conjuring up $4.1 million, for a five-week total of $87.5 million.
Jonah Hex fell from #8 to #12, grossing $2.3 million, for a two-week total of $9.8 million. Iron Man 2 slipped from #10 to #13, earning $2.1 million, for an eight-week total of $307.6 million. Marmaduke slipped from #12 to #15, woofing up $1.4 million, for a four-week total of $30.5 million. Robin Hood fell from #13 to #17, redistributing $950 thousand, for a seven-week total of $103.6 million. How to Train Your Dragon showed a lot of strength, flying up from #25 to #19, swooping up $900 thousand (two and a half times as much as last week), for a fourteen-week total of $215.8 million.
Falling out of the top 25 this week were:
Splice (last week’s #14) in its fourth week in US release ($16.3 million)
Clash of the Titans (last week’s #24) in its thirteenth week in release ($162.8 million)
