Variety reports the top movies, in terms of box office take, for the week of 18-24 June 2010. Genre is back on top, as Toy Story 3 opened to a massive box office take of $167.6 million. Shrek Forever After fell from #3 to #5, grossing $9.0 million, for a five-week total of $226.4 million. Prince of Persia: The Sands of Time held strong at #6, conjuring up $8.1 million, for a four-week total of $83.4 million. The live-action comic book adaptation Jonah Hex opened at a very disappointing #8, grossing $7.5 million. Iron Man 2 slipped from #9 to #10, earning $4.2 million, for a seven-week total of $305.5 million.
Marmaduke fell from #7 to #12, woofing up $3.8 million, for a three-week total of $29.0 million. Robin Hood slipped from #11 to #13, redistributing $2.0 million, for a six-week total of $102.7 million. Splice fell from #10 to #14, piecing together $1.4 million, for a three-week total of $16.0 million. Clash of the Titans fell from #15 to #24, slicing in $400 thousand, for a twelve-week total of $162.5 million. How to Train Your Dragon fell from #17 to #25, swooping up $350 thousand, for a thirteen-week total of $214.9 million.
