Top Box Office Grossers: Second Week in June 2010

Variety reports the top movies, in terms of box office take, for the week of 11-17 June 2010. It’s remake week, as Karate Kid and The A-Team top the charts (and next week, the Toys are back on top). Shrek Forever After slipped from #1 to #3, grossing $23.3 million, for a four-week total of $217.5 million. Prince of Persia: The Sands of Time slipped from #4 to #6, conjuring up $9.5 million, for a three-week total of $75.2 million. The live-action Marmaduke slipped from #6 to #7, woofing up $9.0 million, for a two-week total of $25.2 million. Iron Man 2 slipped from #7 to #9, earning $6.6 million, for a six-week total of $301.3 million. Splice slipped from #8 to #10, piecing together $4.4 million, for a two-week US total of $14.6 million.
Robin Hood slipped from #9 to #11, redistributing $3.8 million, for a five-week total of $100.7 million. Clash of the Titans saw a titanic resurgence, after falling out of the top 25 last week, to land at #15 this week, slicing in $500 thousand, for an eleven-week total of $162.1 million. (Only 12 films earned more than $1 million this week.) How to Train Your Dragon slipped from #14 to #17, swooping up $500 thousand, for a twelve-week total of $214.6 million.
Falling out of the top 25 this week were:
Alice in Wonderland (last week’s #17) in its fifteenth week in release ($334.0 million)
A Nightmare on Elm Street (last week’s #23) in its seventh week in release ($62.6 million)
