Top Box Office Grossers: Fifth Week in May 2010

Variety reports the top movies, in terms of box office take, for the week of 28 May-3 June 2010. The ogre held strong, topping the fashionable four. Shrek Forever After held onto the #1 spot, grossing $68.0 million, for a two-week total of $157.7 million. Sex and the City 2 opened at #2. Prince of Persia: The Sands of Time opened at #3, conjuring up $45.6 million. Iron Man 2, therefore, was pushed from #2 to #4, earning $24.9 million, for a four-week total of $283.5 million. Robin Hood slipped from #3 to #5, redistributing $16.4 million, for a three-week total of $89.1 million. How to Train Your Dragon held strong at #10, swooping up $1.8 million, for a ten-week total of $213.4 million.
A Nightmare on Elm Street slipped from #9 to #11, grabbing $1.4 million, for a five-week total of $62.2 million. Alice in Wonderland climbed again this week (making two weeks in a row), from #15 to #12, conjuring up $900 thousand (nearly 30% more than last week), for a thirteen-week total of $333.3 million [last week, we typoed the then-twelve-week total of $332.4 million]. Hot Tub Time Machine climbed from #24 to #21, bubbling up with $350 thousand (just a little less money than last week), for a ten-week total of $50.1 million. Clash of the Titans slipped from #22 to #23, taking in $350 thousand, for a nine-week total of $161.4 million.
Kick Ass (last week’s #23) fell out of the top 25 in its seventh week in release, with a box office take of $47.6 million.
