Agent John Jarrold reports that Hannu Rajaniemi sold US rights to his first three novels to Patrick Nielsen Hayden at Tor. The “significant” sub-rights deal, handled by Orion’s Rights Director Susan Howe, will see Rajaniemi’s debut novel, The Quantum Thief, plus two further books, appear in hardcover in the US starting in May 2011.
Rajaniemi, a Finnish novelist resident in Scotland, sold the books (via Jarrold) to Gollancz “for a high five-figure sum in pounds sterling, on the basis of one chapter,” to Gollancz. The Quantum Thief is scheduled to be published in the UK this September.
