Garth Nix to be Hugo Master of Ceremonies

Aussiecon 4, the 2010 World Science Fiction Convention, has just announced that Garth Nix will be the Master of Ceremonies for this year’s Hugo Awards ceremony (which will be held Saturday 5 September in the Melbourne Convention and Exhibition Centre).
Nix said “It is a great honour to be Master of Ceremonies for the Hugo Award ceremony, the preeminent international awards for science fiction, and to be part of a tradition extending back more than fifty years. I am also excited to be working with a great team at Aussiecon 4, and I’m looking forward to the award ceremony, which I hope will live up to the grand heritage of the awards, while also being efficient and fun, with just the right amount of Australian flavour.”
Australian-born Nix has been a full time writer since 2001. His books include the award-winning fantasy novelsSabriel, Lirael, and Abhorsen; and the cult favourite YA SF novel Shade’s Children. His fantasy novels for children include The Ragwitch; the six books of The Seventh Tower sequence, and The Keys to the Kingdom series, recently completed with the publication of the seventh book, Lord Sunday.
Nix joins previously announced Guests of Honor including Kim Stanley Robinson, Shaun Tan, and Robin Johnson.
