2009 Sidewise Award nominees announced

Award Administrator Steven H Silver announces the nominees for the 2009 Sidewise Awards for Alternate History. The winners will be announced at ReConStruction, this year’s NASFiC, in Raleigh, North Carolina during the weekend of 5 August. The winners are selected from a panel of judges that currently includes Stephen Baxter, Evelyn Leeper, Jim Rittenhouse, Stu Shiffman, Kurt Sidaway, and Steven H Silver
The nominees for best Short Form are:

“The Fixation” by Alastair Reynolds (The Solaris Book of New Science Fiction, Volume 3, Solaris)
“Edison’s Frankenstein” by Chris Roberson (Postscripts 20/21)
“Black Swan” by Bruce Sterling (Interzone, April 2009)
“The Persistence of Souls” by Sarah Zettel (The Shadow Conspiracy, Book View Café)
There is only one nominee this year in the best Long Form category, but Silver reminds us that “no award” is also an option. The nominee is:
