Circlet Press Publisher Cecilia Tan writes to tell us that Circlet publications won two awards from the National Leather Association: International, “the the activist organization for BDSM/leather/fetish community.” The annual awards, for excellence in SM/leather/fetish writing, were announced earlier this month at the organization’s Annual General Meeting in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma.
The Circlet Press award winners are:
Like a Thorn: BDSM Fairy Tales, edited by Sarah Desautels and Cecilia Tan: won in the anthology category. Announcing the award, NLA:I says calls the anthology “a superb collection of stories assembled by editors Cecilia Tan and Sarah Desautels. Each story revisits an old fairy tale and retells it with a dark, erotic twist.”
“The Last Mistress of the Chatelaine” by Kieran Wyn Dewhurst, a story published in that anthology, took home the John Preston Short Fiction award. NLA:I says the story is “a dark, erotic story like the others in the collection, which presents a delightful twist in a hot, engaging SM story.”
“Like a Thorn was truly Sarah’s vision,” said Tan of her co-editor. “She hatched the idea for the book and made the real decisions on what stories to accept, shepherded the writers through revisions, and even helped design the cover and provided the cover photograph. I’m so thrilled for her and Kieran.”
The full list of award-winners is available in this press release.
