Variety reports the top movies, in terms of box office take, for the week of 16-22 April 2010. Faux-superhero movie Kick Ass opened at the top of the charts, kicking up $25.4 million. How to Train Your Dragon showed some strength, climbing this week from #3 to #2, swooping up $24.4 million, for a four-week total of $163.0 million. Last week’s #2, Date Night slipped to #3, and Death at a Funeral opened at #4. Therefore, Clash of the Titans fell from #1 to #5, taking in $19.4 million, for a three-week total of $136.6 million. Alice in Wonderland slipped from #7 to #8, conjuring up #4.8 million, for a seven-week total of $325.3 million. Hot Tub Time Machine fell from #6 to #9, bubbling up with $3.5 million, for a four-week total of $43.7 million.
Avatar slipped from #11 to #13, grabbing $1.4 million (15% more than last week), for an eighteen-week total of $745.4 million. Shutter Island fell from #12 to #17, taking in $700 thousand, for a nine-week total of $126.0 million.

Percy Jackson & The Olympians: The Lightning Thief (last week’s #23) in its tenth week in release (total domestic box office: $87.5 million)
Repo Men (last week’s #25) in its fifth week in release ($13.8 million)
