Top Box Office Grossers: Second Week in April 2010

Variety reports the top movies, in terms of box office take, for the week of 9-15 April 2010. Clash of the Titans held onto the top spot in its second week in release, taking in $33.6 million, for a two-week total of $117.2 million. Only two new movies made it into the top 25 this week: Date Night, which opened at #2, and Letters to God, which showed up at #10. How to Train Your Dragon was pushed down from #2 to #3, swooping up $30.1 million, for a three-week total of $138.6 million. Hot Tub Time Machine held onto the #6 spot, bubbling up with $7.4 million, for a three-week total of $39.0 million. Alice in Wonderland fell from #5 to #7, conjuring up $6.8 million, for a six-week total of $320.5 million.
Avatar climbed from #13 to #11, grabbing $1.2 million, for a seventeen-week total of $744.0 million. Shutter Island slipped from #10 to #12, taking in $1.2 million, for an eight-week total of $125.3 million. Percy Jackson & The Olympians: The Lightning Thief slipped from #21 to #23, making $350 thousand, for a nine-week total of $87.2 million. Repo Men fell from #16 to #25, repossessing $250 thousand, for a four-week total of $13.7 million.
For the second time, Tooth Fairy fell out of the top 25 this week (from #25), after twelve weeks in release, with a domestic box office take of $58.9 million.
