Michael Moorcock has sold reprint rights to five of his novels to Acquiring Editor Douglas Cohen at Fantastic Books. Cohen writes “I’m pleased to announce that my latest editorial acquisition for Fantastic Books consists of five out-of-print novels by none other than Michael Moorcock. As someone who has been a fan of Mr. Moorcock’s writing for some years, I must confess that this is very exciting for me, on both a professional and personal level. Mr. Moorcock is one of the true giants and innovators in our field, and I am honored to be working on these books. The deal has been in the works for a while, but we’ve finally gotten to the point” that we can make it public.
The novels included in the deal are:
The Sundered Worlds (first published in 1965, appeared as The Blood Red Game in 1970)
The Distant Suns (first published in 1975)
The Twilight Man (first published in 1965, appeared as The Shores of Death in 1970)
The Wrecks of Time (first published in 1967, appeared as The Rituals of Infinity in 1971)
The Fireclown (first published in 1965, appeared as The Winds of Limbo in 1969)
Cohen says “Characters such as Jerry Cornelius and Count Renark Von Bek—a couple of important cogs in Mr. Moorcock’s vast and popular Multiverse—will be among the characters found in these books. I’m looking forward to reintroducing these works to Mr. Moorcock’s older fans, and perhaps acquainting his younger fans with these novels for the very first time. I expect to begin work on the books this week. As soon as we have a publication date, we will of course make that known.”
SFScope Editor Ian Randal Strock is the publisher of Fantastic Books.
