Greg van Eekhout sells three books to Tor based on one short story

Greg van Eekhout sold three books to Tor Books. The deal, between editor Patrick Nielsen Hayden and agent Caitlin Blasdell, means van Eekhout will be greatly expanding on his short story “The Osteomancer’s Son” (which is available on PodCastle). The sale was based on a proposal; the books are unwritten.
“The Osteomancer’s Son” was first published in the April/May 2006 issue of Asimov’s Science Fiction, and reprinted in both Year’s Best Fantasy 7 and Best Fantasy of the Year: 2007.
The author’s three published books thus far are Norse Code (a fantasy novel published by Bantam Spectra last year), Show and Tell and Other Stories (a chapbook published by Tropism Press in 2006), and Kid vs. Squid (a middle grade fantasy novel to be published by Bloomsbury Children’s in May).
In seemingly unrelated news, van Eekhout announces that Canadian classic rock band “Rush is touring this summer and will be playing the Moving Pictures album in its entirety!”
