Lauren Oliver sold a middle-grade novel The Story of Liesl & Po to Rosemary Brosnan at Harper. The book is the first of a three-book deal negotiated by agent Stephen Barbara at Foundry Literary + Media. Publishers Lunch says …Liesl & Po was “pitched as in the tradition of Kate DiCamillo, the tale of a girl, a ghost, two boxes, some ashes, some magic dust, and a magician’s apprentice, and how these seemingly random elements come together over the course of one week to restore feeling to a world gone gray and heartless.”
Oliver’s first novel, Before I Fall, was published at the beginning of this month, and is #8 on the New York Times children’s chapter books bestseller list (its first week on the list).
