Lance Fenstersman, who as part of Reed Exhibitions is in charge of the New York Comic Con, New York Anime Fest, and the Chicago Comic and Entertainment Expo, is expanding his portfolio. Lucasfilm and Reed have announced that they’re jointly putting on Star Wars Celebration V. The event is expected to be “one of the largest official Star Wars fan events ever—featuring cast and crew celebrities, fan-run events, costumes, music, live entertainment, screenings, autographs, collectibles, panels, and sneak peaks into the future of Star Wars.”
The event will be held 12-15 August 2010 at the Orange County Convention Center in Orlando, Florida. Tickets will go on sale Thursday 10 December 2009 at www.starwarscelebration.com. Prices will be $45 for one-day passes (except for Saturday, which will be $50) or $120 for a four-day pass. Lower rates for kids. They also expect to offer a limited number of VIP Packages early next year. Purchasers of single- and four-day passes will be able to upgrade.
Lucasfilm began running these events in 1999, and have had four in the US and one each in Europe and Japan. Now they’ve teamed up with Reed to make use of their experience and resources.
