Rod Rees sells German rights to The Demi-Monde

Agent John Jarrold tells us that Nicole Geismann of Goldmann Verlag bought German rights to the first two books of Rod Rees’s The Demi-Monde quartet “for a good five-figure sum in Euros.” Following Quercus‘s purchase of World rights in September (see this article), Quercus’s Head of Rights Daniel Bouquet handled this deal.
Gesmann said “The Demi-Monde is based on a very intriguing idea. Rod Rees has created a world which fascinated me from the beginning. Although this is fiction it seemed in many respects more than real. The story, the wonderful characters and the hilarious dark humor won me over instantly. I haven’t read a more imaginative novel in a long time.”
The first book in the series, titled The Demi-Monde: Winter, has been delivered. Quercus has it scheduled for publication in January 2011.
Goldmann is a German part of the Random House Group.
