Tanith Lee’s Night’s Master now available in “definitive” edition

Norilana Books‘ TaLeKa imprint announces the publication of its first book: the definitive hardcover and trade paperback reissue of Tanith Lee‘s Night’s Master. The book is “the first book of the stunning arabesque high fantasy series Tales from the Flat Earth, which, in the manner of The One Thousand and One Nights, portrays an ancient world in mythic grandeur via connected tales.”
Publisher Vera Nazarian says that with this series, “British author Tanith Lee created the first truly complete, modern, and sophisticated fantasy version of the Arabian Nights, and spun wondrous stories within stories, unparalleled profound tales of arcane mystery, dark love, and bright desire.”
These newly released, definitive editions, are “revised and formatted as the author originally intended, containing a new original introduction by Tanith Lee, and a unique previously unpublished interior reproduction of an original handwritten manuscript page. The cover image is a design by Tanith Lee’s husband and artist John Kaiine, incorporating her own artwork in the center frame, which makes it a fan and collector’s delight.”
The hardcover is listed at $24.95, while the trade paperback lists for $12.95.
Nazarian also offers this description of the book: “Long time ago when the Earth was Flat, beautiful indifferent Gods lived in the airy Upperearth realm above, curious passionate demons lived in the exotic Underearth realm below, and mortals were relegated to exist in the middle. Azhrarn, Lord of the Demons and the Darkness, was the one who ruled the Night, and many mortal lives were changed because of his cruel whimsy. And yet, Azhrarn held inside his demon heart a profound mystery which would change the very fabric of the Flat Earth forever…
“Come within this ancient world of brilliant darkness and beauty, of glittering palaces and wondrous elegant beings, of cruel passions and undying love.
“Discover the exotic wonder that is the Flat Earth.”
Future titles scheduled to appear include Sounds and Furies (a collection, appearing in March 2010), and the rest of the Tales from the Flat Earth, including: Death’s Master (September 2010), Delusion’s Master (September 2011), Delirium’s Mistress (September 2012), Night’s Mysteries (September 2013), Earth’s Master (September 2014), and The Earth is Flat (September 2015).
