Pocket lays off Star Trek editor Margaret Clark

We’ve just gotten word that Simon and Schuster has another round of cost-cutting layoffs, cutting some members of the editorial department. Of direct impact to sf publishing is the departure of editor Margaret Clark, who had had responsibility for the Star Trek line (since the departure of Marco Palmieri last December). Simon & Schuster did, however, say that the company remains committed to Star Trek, and that the previously announced publishing list for 2010 remains in place.
Clark joined Simon &amp Schuster’s Pocket Books in 1996, after editing Star Trek comics at DC. She has recently been responsible for the Enterprise re-launch, as well as the post-Nemesis books in the Next Generation series. The only part of the line she didn’t have responsibility for was the New Frontier series.
Pocket’s Director of Publicity Jean Anne Rose told TrekMovie.com “Pocket will be going forward as planned with its current schedule and the editorial responsibilities will be announced shortly.”
TrekMovie.com also had the goods on the planned releases for 2010, which break the year down into three themed phases: “Spring Back to Classic Trek (& New Frontier)”, “The Summer of JJ Trek”, and “Fall Into the 24th Century and the Typhon Pact”.
