Nominations are now open for the GUFF (the Going Under, or Get Up-and-Over, Fan Fund), which this time around will send a European fan (or fans) to Aussiecon 4, the 68th World Science Fiction Convention, which will be in Melbourne, Australia, 2-6 September 2010.
Fans wishing to be nominated need to contact Award Administrator Ang Rosin at lister dot liv dot ac dot uk. Nomination requires three European and two Australasian nominators, a 100-word platform, and a bond of £15 (A$25).
Nominations are open until the Friday before Novacon 39 (13 November), and candidates will be announced that Sunday, 15 November. Voting will then run until the Monday of Eastercon 2010 (5 April 2010).
GUFF was created as The Get Up-and-over Fan Fund in 1978, to complete the triangle whose existing sides were TAFF (the TransAtlantic Fan Fund, which sends sf fans between Europe and North America) and DUFF (Down Under Fan Fund, running between North America and Australia). The name changes to Going Under Fan Fund for southbound trips. TAFF was created in 1953, and DUFF followed in 1972. For full information on GUFF, see taff.org.uk/guff.html. Details on the current accounting, administrator, and race are on this page.
