Circlet celebrating Bisexuality Day with a new ebook collection

Circlet Press is marking Celebrate Bisexuality Day this Wednesday, 23 September. The observation is about 16 years old (coincidentally, a year younger than Circlet Press), and in honor of the day, the “leading publisher of erotic science fiction since 1992” is releasing a new ebook collection with a bisexual theme. Like Twin Stars collects three science fiction stories (by N.K. Jemisin, Giselle Renard, and Neil Hudson) featuring the erotic lives of bisexual characters into one volume.
Circlet Press recently moved into the ebook realm. Publisher and founder Cecilia Tan, a self-identified bisexual writer, said “Science fiction is an ideal genre for exploring issues of sexuality and identity. By removing a story from our modern political context, an author can open the eyes of the reader to new possibilities and new ways to think about issues. What about a world where the division between gay and straight isn’t as rigid as our society makes it? Or where gender roles are expressed differently?”
Tan also quotes for us a Scientific American finding that “bisexual behavior is common in over 1500 species of animals on Earth, including humans, for whom it has greater social and personal consequences than it does for penguins, baboons, or garter snakes.” She continues, “very few works of fiction tackle issues of bisexuality seriously, usually depicting bisexual characters as either cheating villains or ‘confused’ about their sexuality. Like Twin Stars takes neither tack, creating characters and worlds where loving both/all genders is possible and celebrated.”
The $2.99 ebook is available directly from Circlet, or from a variety of ebook retailers, including Amazon’s Kindle store and Fictionwise. For more information, excerpts, and links to estores selling the book, see this Circlet page.
