Douglas Cohen, in his guise as an acquiring editor for Fantastic Books, acquired his first book: Animythical Tales, a short story collection by Sarah Totton. The book will feature stories previously published in Realms of Fantasy, Black Static, Fantasy Magazine, Polyphony, and a Writers of the Future volume. The stories feature “high fantasy, dark fantasy, and magic realism”.
In addition to being a writer, Totton is a licensed veterinarian and former wildlife biologist who recently completed her doctorate in Epidemiology (studying the health of stray dogs during a spay/neuter program in India). As a writer, she says “I entered the Writers of the Future Contest 17 times before I finally took home a prize. I’m not very good at quitting.”
