Andrew Porter is reporting the death of movie producer and writer Harry Alan Towers on 2 August 2009 in Toronto, Ontario, Canada. Towers, sometimes credited as Peter Welbeck, was born 20 October 1920 in London, England.
He began his career as a child actor, became a radio writer during World War II (while serving in the Royal Air Force), and then moved on to film writing and producing.
