Jeff Somers options his “Avery Cates” books

Jeff Somers reports selling an 18-month film option on his Avery Cates books to Columbia Pictures. His literary agent, Janet Reid of FinePrint Literary Management, handled the deal.
The books covered by the deal, originally published by Orbit, are : The Electric Church (September 2007), The Digital Plague (May 2008), and The Eternal Prison (August 2009).
Publisher Orbit described The Electric Church (the first Avery Cates novel) this way: “Avery Cates is a very bad man. Some would call him a criminal. He might even be a killer—for the right price. But right now, Avery Cates is scared. Because he’s up against the Monks: cyborgs with human brains, enhanced robotic bodies, and a small arsenal of advanced weaponry. Their mission is to convert anyone and everyone to the Electric Church. But there is just one snag. Conversion means death.”

Congratulations on the film option! This is the first time that I’ve heard of Avery Cates and I’ll have to add the books to my to be read list! Thanks for sharing the information!
