It’s WorldCon Weekend

Much of the sf community is in Montreal for this year’s WorldCon, Anticipation. Sadly, we are not.
But part of the SFScope staff is on the road (remarkably enough, in western New York). What this means, from your point of view (if you’re still at home and reading SFScope), is that there won’t be any news posted tomorrow (Friday 7 August 2009). However, we are planning to have a live article posting Sunday night, for the Hugo Awards. So if you couldn’t make it to Montreal, stay tuned right here. The article will go live about 8PM EDT (which is about when the ceremony is supposed to start), and we’ll be refreshing/updating it as we learn the winner of each award. So if you’re at home, open up the article, and refresh the page on occasion to see who won what (to make your own scorecard, remember that the final ballot was published here in March). If you’re not with us live, of course, the article will remain with the news.
Monday, too, may be a slow day, as we return from the wilds of upstate New York, and the sf community recovers from a long weekend of Montreal hospitality. But we’ll be up and running, for sure, on Tuesday. Have a great weekend!

I find myself sad that I could not attend WorldCon. Made it to New York City for the BookExpo 2009, but I should have saved my pennies for WorldCon. Live and learn!
