Jasper Kent sold his third historical vampire novel to Simon Taylor of Transworld Publishers. Agent John Jarrold handled the deal for world rights.
The deal “follows on the successful publication of Kent’s debut, Twelve, set in Russia during the Napoleonic Wars, earlier this year. The third book takes up the story at the time of the Crimean War, after the second novel in the sequence, Thirteen Years Later, which is coming from Bantam Press early in 2010. This third volume will see publication in 2011.”
Jarrold notes that the trade paperback edition of Twelve has already gone back for four reprints, and has more than 13,000 copies in print. “Simon and his colleagues at Transworld have done a wonderful job, and word of mouth has obviously been very strong. It’s great to have this deal in place for an author who is already going places.”
