Irish writer Derek Gunn sold The HMS Swift Chronicles to new UK publisher Ghostwriter Publications. The historical horror fiction book will be published later this year in hardcover, paperback, and audio editions.
Gunn describes the book: “Set against the historical backdrop of the fragile peace that existed between the American Revolution, the looming French Revolution and the threat of Napoleon’s growing empire, the crew of the HMS Swift face the walking dead in ‘The Diabolical Plan’ and vampires in ‘The Island’. The year is 1791 and Captain Thomas Butler and his loyal crew of the HMS Swift, a class five frigate in the service of King George III of England, are sent on a series of missions where nothing is what it seems and forces far darker than any of them have experienced before, reign supreme.”
Gunn said of the sale “I’m really delighted that these stories have been picked up. It’s great to have found a publisher who enjoys historical horror fiction as much as I enjoy writing it.”
Ghostwriter Publications is a new UK publisher specializing in horror and supernatural fiction.
Gunn is the author of the Vampire Apocalypse series, the first two books of which—A World Torn Asunder and Descent into Chaos—are already out (the third, Fallout, is due out later this year). Permuted Press will be publishing Gunn’s The Estuary this summer.
