Larry Tye sells nonfiction book about Superman

Larry Tye sold the nonfiction Superman to Will Murphy at Random House, via agent Jill Kneerim of Kneerim & Williams. The book “looks at the Man of Steel as a cultural phenomenon, from the lives of his creators and politics of his creation, to the shifting forms he has taken over the decades, showing how this most enduring American hero offers a singular lens into our longings, our fears and our enduring hopes.”
Tye’s previous books include Satchel: The Life and Times of an American Legend (which will be published this June), Rising from the Rails (about Pullman porters), The Father of Spin (about early advertising executive Edward L. Bernays), Home Lands (about Jewish communities in the diaspora), and Shock (about Kitty Dukakis and her struggle against depression and addiction).
