Project: Rooftop is sponsoring a contest entitled “Batman 2.0: The Dynaminc Do-Over.”
In less poetic terms, the web site is looking for new designs for the Batman costume, in light of the Caped Crusader’s apparent death (and imminent replacement or resurrection) in Batman R.I.P. and Final Crisis. They say “Nightwing was raised to be Batman 2.0, so any uniform he dons as the Caped Crusader should demonstrate that. And sure, Nightwing might not be the next Batman, and Bruce Wayne’s heroic death probably won’t last forever… but let’s enjoy the design opportunity anyway.”
Prizes include a Batman statue, action figures, signed comics, DVDs, and more. Entries will be judged by the Project: Rooftop staff and artists J.H. Williams III, Dustin Nguyen, and Tim Callahan. Entry deadline is 4 February. More details are available in this post.
Project: Rooftop is “the superhero fashion site” where “cartoonists and illustrators bring their costume design skills to task in tribute to the superheroes and villains we’ve grown up with.” The site is intended to “promote excellence in costume design as well as foster continued interest for these amazing characters.”
