The instructors for next year’s Clarion Science Fiction & Fantasy Writers Workshop have been announced. The first four weeks will be taught by Holly Black, Larissa Lai, Robert Crais, and Kim Stanley Robinson (one week each). The final two weeks will be the responsibility of the teaching team of Elizabeth Hand and Paul Park.
Karen Joy Fowler is the Chairman of the Board of Directors of the Clarion Foundation, a not-for-profit foundation that administers the workshop. She said “Last year we set an all-time record for applications, and we expect that this year’s faculty will also prove to be a strong draw. We have a mix of best-selling and award-winning writers, experienced Clarion teachers and writers who we have been trying to attract to Clarion for years.”
The 40-year-old Clarion workshop is a six-week, intensive writing workshop. Next year will be its third at the University of California, San Diego, where it will run from 28 June to 8 August. Applications will be accepted starting 2 January 2009, and the application deadline will be 1 March 2009.
