Top Box Office Grossers: Fourth Week of October

Variety reports the top movies, in terms of box office take, for the week of 24-30 October 2008. New horror release Saw V opened in the #2 slot, behind Disney’s High School Musical 3: Senior Year. Saw V took in $35.7 million. Quarantine dropped from #7 to #10, grossing $3.4 million, for a three-week total of $29.7 million.
The new release of Tim Burton’s Nightmare Before Christmas in 3-D clocked in at $24, taking in $575 thousand.
All the other genre pictures which were in last week’s top 25 have dropped out this week: The Dark Knight fell from #20 in its fifteenth week in release; WALL-E last week as at #23, and this week fell out of the top 25 (for a second time) after eighteen weeks in the theatres; Journey to the Center of the Earth fell from #24, also for a second time, after sixteen weeks in release; and Igor dropped from #25, in its sixth week.
