Top Box Office Grossers: Second Week of October

Variety reports the top movies, in terms of box office take, for the week of 10-16 October 2008. New release Quarantine opened in the #2 spot, behind last week’s #1, Beverly Hills Chihuahua. The new horror flick grossed $18.4 million, and was the only sf/f/h film in the top 10 (after none last week).
Igor dropped from #16 to #18, bringing in $800 thousand, for a four-week total of $18.3 million. The Dark Knight climbed this week, from #21 to #19, earning an additional $800 thousand, for a thirteen-week total of $526.9 million. Blindness, last week’s top grossing genre films, dropped from #12 to #20, taking in $750 thousand, for a two-week total of $3.6 million. Ghost Town dropped from #19 to #24, grossing $700 thousand, for a four-week total of $12.7 million.
