Night Shade Books to be available electronically through Baen’s Webscriptions

Night Shade Books is the latest small press publisher to sign a distribution agreement with Baen Books‘s electronic publishing site, webscription.net. Starting today, Night Shade titles will be available both individually and as part of a separate Night Shade Books program on the site.
Baen’s Director of E-Books James Minz said “In little over a decade, Night Shade Books has become one of the top independent genre publishers. Their stated mission is to ‘find the right reader for the right book,’ and we’re excited to help expand their mission into the electronic books market.”
Night Shade Editor-in-Chief Jeremy Lassen said of the deal “I’m extremely proud to be working with one of the leading independent publishers in the SF and fantasy genres. Baen has successfully led the industry into the future with its DRM-free electronic publishing program. This canny insight into the e-book market is just one of the many reasons Night Shade has chosen to partner with Baen for the launch of its e-book line.”
Night Shade Books won the 2003 World Fantasy Special Award (Non-Professional), and is one of the fastest growing independent publishers of SF, fantasy, and horror. Their authors include bestsellers such as Harry Turtledove, Elizabeth Moon, and S.M. Stirling, as well as perennial favorites like Walter Jon Williams and Glen Cook.
Other small presses distributing electronically through Webscriptions include Subterranean Press and E-Reads. Baen Books “has been at the forefront of the electronic book business from its earliest inception, offering a wide variety of titles in a broad array of formats, with innovative marketing programs such as eARCs, backlist bundling, and Webscriptions. And of course, Baen continues its staunch commitment to offering all its e-book titles without onerous DRM software.”
